Maggi Big Curry
Maggi
"Maggi Big Curry is honestly one of the most comforting instant noodles I have ever eaten, and I say this as someone discerning about curry flavour having grown up eating authentic South Indian curry at home. The curry paste sachets give a surprisingly layered warmth with a gentle coconut undertone that makes it feel almost like a real curry laksa. I always add a soft-boiled egg, some bean sprouts, and a squeeze of lime to complete the experience. On rainy evenings when nobody wants to cook, this is the meal that brings the whole family together at the table with no complaints. Simply delicious and worth every ringgit."
"These delicate chocolate love letters are a treat I always bring out when hosting guests or celebrating festivals with the family. The thin wafer shell shatters beautifully with each bite and the chocolate filling is smooth and not overly sweet, making them easy to enjoy several at once. I love serving them alongside homemade murukku and kuih bangkit during Deepavali as a contrast in textures. The packaging is pretty enough to give as a small gift wrapped in cellophane. A lovely Malaysian sweet that bridges cultures and generations beautifully."
Jacob's Krim Kraker 14s
Jacob's
"Jacob's cream crackers have been part of Malaysian teatime culture for generations and for very good reason indeed. I love serving these with homemade chutney and a cup of masala chai in the afternoons, which creates a beautiful fusion of local and South Indian teatime traditions. The cracker is sturdy enough to hold toppings without breaking but light enough not to feel heavy. My mother-in-law also makes a lovely cracker pudding using Jacob's that is absolutely delicious and worth recreating. A timeless classic worth keeping in the biscuit tin always."
"Making a quick midweek pasta dinner is so much easier with Prego Traditional as the base. I always sauté onions, garlic, and fresh curry leaves before adding the sauce, which gives it a wonderfully fragrant Malaysian twist that my family loves. The natural sweetness of the tomatoes comes through clearly without any harsh acidity, which my children really appreciate. It pairs beautifully with both spaghetti and penne depending on the mood of the day. A reliable pasta sauce I keep as a kitchen staple."
"This sweet soy sauce works beautifully as a marinade for grilled chicken or as a drizzle over fried rice and noodles. The sweetness is balanced with a light savoury depth that elevates simple dishes without overpowering the other flavours. I like to mix it with chilli and lime for an easy dipping sauce that pairs wonderfully with spring rolls or crackers. The bottle lasts a surprisingly long time since a small amount goes a long way in cooking. A versatile and flavourful condiment worth having."
